"The only thing better than singing,
is more singing!"

Teaching Philosophy

At KEJ Voice Studio, we believe great teaching is both technical and personal. Our approach is holistic, supportive and empowering, with a strong focus on healthy vocal production, anatomy, musicality, storytelling and stagecraft. Lessons are individually tailored to meet each student’s technical, emotional and developmental needs, ensuring they feel both supported and appropriately challenged.

Katie meets students exactly where they are in their journey. Lessons are thoughtfully adapted to each student’s goals, learning style and pace, recognising that no two voices or learners are the same. With extensive experience working with students who are neurodivergent, managing anxiety, confidence challenges or other mental health considerations, Katie draws on a wide range of teaching strategies to support students in the way they need to be supported. The studio prioritises creating a safe, respectful and encouraging environment where students feel seen, understood and capable.

We place a strong emphasis on confidence-building and self-belief. Students are encouraged to understand their own voice, body and creative choices so they can take ownership of their instrument and perform with clarity and trust in themselves. Regular feedback, weekly goals and access to curated digital and physical resources help students progress in a structured, motivating way.

Most importantly, we value individuality. Rather than moulding students into a single “sound” or style, we work to uncover what makes each performer unique their voice, personality, instincts and strengths and help them develop those qualities with skill and care. Whether working towards exams, auditions, performances or simply singing for enjoyment, our goal is to nurture confident, expressive performers who feel proud of who they are and how they share their voice with the world.
